The Biology Learning Center (BLC)

The labs for General Biology are held in the Biology Learning Center located in Boyden Hall 220. All of our labs are self-paced to allow students flexibility. The labs are designed to take about 4 hours, but some students prefer to work faster, while others like to take their time.

Most discussion classes will be held in Boyden Hall 223. These discussions cover new topics exploring the latest developments in science. Schedules for lab and discussion will vary, alternating for students registered in even numbered discussion classes vs. students in odd numbered discussion classes.

The first time you come into the Biology Learning Center for lab, you will need your lab manual (Laboratory Investigations for Biology 101), a Biology Kit, Specimen Card and a Rutgers ID. (If you don't have an ID yet, please bring in your term bill.) We will be stamping your Speciment Card and providing you with a fetal pig.

  • You will be doing a fetal pig dissection as part of Minicourses 1 & 2, as you learn about the digestive systems, excretory systems, respiratory systems and circulatory systems.

I look forward to seeing you.

Ellen Belisle, BLC Supervisor
